MUSEU DA TAPEÇARIA

This Tapestry Museum is located in Casa Nobre dos Castelo Branco (18th century). Not at all old-fashioned and even very attractive with many contemporary tapestries, creations from the middle of the last century to the present day, enough to impress with more than 5,000 colours. The Manufacture des Tapisseries (Rua Gomes Fernandes) is still in operation but cannot be visited. In the 16th century, Portalegre's tapestries were famous. Based on a unique technique, recognized worldwide, their manufacture is long and delicate. They sell for gold.
