- At the end of April, the streets of Sao Filipe with Fogo come alive. The women of the island peel corn to prepare Xerem, all rhythm given by the sound of the drums. Then, during the day, a place cavalhada with horses takes place. The day ends with the church for the blessing of the flag. The days that follow are punctuated by processions, horse racing and the celebration of offices. It is one of the most important celebrations of the island. Not to be missed!
